How Dear is Allah to You

All praise and thanks are due to Allah Almighty for guiding us into Islam, and had it not been for the guidance of Allah (SWT), we would have never been guided.

Allah (SWT) created man in the best of molds and raised him above all of His creation. He gave him the highest honor. The angels were ordered to prostrate before Adam, father of mankind. That's what we are in the eyes of Allah (SWT), most honored. That's how dear we are to Allah (SWT). The question is how dear is Allah to us?

The whole purpose of the creation of mankind is for man to worship his Creator willingly, out of extreme and intense love for Him. That's all. Just recall when we, mankind, responded in the affirmative that we would do just that. We promised that we would certainly consider Him as our Lord and our Master.

[When your Lord drew forth from the Children of Adam from their loins, their descendants, and made them testify concerning themselves, (saying): "Am I not your Lord (Who cherishes and sustains you)?" They said: "Yea! we do testify!" (this), lest you should say on the Day of Judgment: "Of this we were never mindful."] (Al-'Araaf, 7:172)

To prove our loyalty and eagerness to accept Him as our Master, and after Allah (SWT) had offered the Trust ( Amanah ) to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, in which they refused, we (mankind) willingly chose to accept that sacred Trust. We said why not, we will be more than happy to honor and protect this Trust. We accepted it wholeheartedly.

[We did indeed offer the Trust (Amanah) to the Heavens and the Earth and the Mountains; but they refused to undertake it, being afraid thereof: but man undertook it; - he was indeed unjust and foolish] (Al-Ahzab 33:72)

In simple words, The Amanah is the code of life that was given to mankind from their Lord through His prophets and messengers. It is the Divine system of life. In one word it is ISLAM. If they follow it they will be rewarded and if they abandon it they will be punished.

Realistically speaking if you look at man today and his behavior towards Allah (SWT) it appears as if he regrets that he accepted that Trust. That's because of man's evident rebellion against Allah (SWT). We were to maintain the Sovereignty of Allah (SWT), instead we have become sovereigns ourselves. Greed has overtaken man. He wants to hoard all of Allah (SWT)'s provisions to himself. Man's animal lusts and desires could not be fulfilled in the right way according to the will of Allah (SWT). Man has his own savage and cruel way. He kills his brother, rapes his sister and has no regards to morality and decency. Man appointed himself as the Master of the Universe. He has become a partner to Allah. We have no regards for our Lord anymore other than a simple acknowledgment that He is our creator, if that! Man has indeed betrayed this Trust. Generally speaking, Man is foolish and unjust.

It won't be long before the cruel hands of death come upon man and only then will he realize how wrong he was in his relationship with his Lord. Death is imminent. Every soul shall taste it; death is beyond our control. If we don't change ourselves, our attitudes and immediately begin following the manhaj (the way) that was put for us by our Master, Allah Almighty, all our actions here in this life would have amounted to nothing. If we don't hasten towards fixing what our brothers broke we would surely lose both worlds, the life herein as well as the life here-after (God forbid). There is no doubt that we have the capabilities. WE JUST HAVE TO DO IT. The only way to do it is through the Quran and by following the footsteps of our beloved messenger, Muhammad (SAW). There can be no other way! Don't waste your time searching for and/or inventing other ways. Muhammad (SAW) in a long hadeeth enumerating the five periods of history beginning with his time stated that the last period will be Khilafah on the footsteps of prophet hood, i.e. following the methodology of Muhammad (SAW).

May Allah (SWT) strengthen our Iman, enable us to hold fast unto His book and make us of those who fulfill their promise and honor that sacred Trust, Ameen!

Wassalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Mustapha Elturk
